Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A Syracuse University football player has made it onto the 2011 Biletnikoff Award Watch List, which recognizes the nation’s outstanding college football receiver.
Van Chew, who is entering his senior season at SU, was the team’s leading receiver in 2010. The native of Manassas, Va. is one of 75 student-athletes named to the list.
Chew has an active streak of 13 consecutive games with a reception, beginning with the 2009 season finale in Connecticut. In three seasons on the field with SU, Chew has 51 catches for 733 yards and six touchdowns.
This is the 17-th year for the award. It is named for Fred Biletnikoff, former All-American athlete at Florida State University, Super Bowl XI Most Valuable Player, and a member of the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame.
A selection committee of journalists, commentators, announcers, and former receivers will announce the Award’s winner on December 8.
