Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Syracuse University football team announced its 2012 National Letter of Intent Signing Class on Wednesday afternoon.
The highlights of the group included defensive back Wayne Morgan of Erasmus Hall Campus in Brooklyn, as well as tight end Ron Thompson of Southfield, Mich.
Morgan had been recruited by UConn, Penn State, Wisconsin, and West Virginia before deciding to play for the Orange. SU snatched Thompson away from Maryland, Michigan, and Illinois.
Locally, Christian Brothers Academy offensive lineman Ben Barrett selected the Orange.
Another Upstate star on the Orange’s list of signees was Ashton Broyld, a former New York State Class AA player of the year as a quarterback at Rush-Henrietta High School in the Rochester area. Broyld attended the Milford Academy before committing to SU.
