Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Two days after losing to Notre Dame in South Bend, the Syracuse University men’s basketball team tumbled from No. 1 in the Associated Press poll to No. 3 and No. 4 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll.
Slipping past the Orange were Kentucky (19-1) and Missouri (18-1). In the Coaches poll, Ohio State moved up to No. 4.
With the loss, SU fell to 20-1 on the season.
Rounding out the top five in the AP poll were Ohio State (17-3) and Kansas (16-3). In the Coaches poll, Kansas was ranked No. 5.
The Orange faces Cincinnati Monday night on the Bearcats home court. They are playing without center Fab Melo, who did not join SU on its current road trip due to academic issues. The program announced on Saturday that Mookie Jones had also left the team. The latter player has left the school dues to personal reasons.
