Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A spokesman for Syracuse University responded on Friday to reports circulating that the Orange’s season-opening basketball game against San Diego State University was in jeopardy.

The school says that the game is not being canceled and that the team is preparing to play the game and will continue to do so.

The San Diego Union Tribune had cited multiple sources claiming that the “Battle of Midway” game, which will be played on the deck of the USS Midway, could be canceled.

A television deal is already in place, according to the publication, but a national sponsor has not been named.

The “Battle on the Midway” game is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m.

The game is scheduled as the season opener for both the Orange and the Aztecs.
