SU tumbles to No. 6 in both major polls

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Syracuse University men’s basketball team fell to No. 6 in both major polls after taking its second loss of the season on Saturday.

Villanova defeated the Orange 75-71 in overtime at the Carrier Dome. Previously, SU had lost to Temple at Madison Square Garden.

Michigan assumed the top spot in the Associated Press poll, while Kansas climbed to No. 1 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll.

Kansas, Indiana, Florida and Duke rounded out the top five in the AP poll.

The Wolverines were ranked No. 2 in the coaches poll, followed by Indiana, Florida and Duke.

Gonzaga, Arizona, Butler, and Oregon followed SU in the AP top 10. In the coaches poll, the Orange was followed by Gonzaga, Arizona, Michigan State, and Butler.
