Syracuse (WSYR-TV/NFL) -- It’s official. The Buffalo Bills announced Thursday that Nathaniel Hackett has been hired as the team’s offensive coordinator.

Hackett will join Doug Marrone, who was hired as head coach of the Bills earlier this week.

Hackett rejoins the Bills’ coaching staff after spending three years with Syracuse Orange football.

The Syracuse Orange offense surpassed the 1,000 yard barrier during Hackett’s three years as offensive coordinator.

Before working at Syracuse, Hackett spent four seasons in the NFL as an offensive quality control coach with the Buffalo Bills from 2008 to 2009 and with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2006 to 2007.

Hackett also worked as an assistant to the offensive and defensive coordinators at Stanford from 2003 to 2004 after spending the spring of 2003 as the assistant linebackers coach at his alma mater, U.C. Davis.

A four-year letterwinner as a linebacker and long snapper at U.C. Davis from 1999-2002, Hackett helped the Aggies to a playoff appearance in each of his four seasons and to a 41-9 record.
