Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- With only a week and a half left before the Pinstripe Bowl, the game plan is starting to come together.

The biggest challenge for the Orange is how to slow down the West Virginia offense, which is statistically one of the best in the country.

It helps that statistically one of SU’s top defensive players has been cleared to play.

Marquis Spruill and Steve Rene appeared in court for the first time on Wednesday to answer to charges, including disorderly conduct stemming from an altercation with police earlier this month.

Doug Marrone told NewsChannel 9 that Spruill will be allowed to suit up and play in the Pinstripe Bowl; Rene is out with an injury.

Marrone added that he’s handling the matter internally and seeing to it that the players learn from it.
