February 12, 1980
Georgetown 52 – Syracuse 50

It was the first season of the Big East and Syracuse had won 57 straight home games at Manley Field House. The Orange had one last game left to play at Manley, before moving on to the Carrier Dome the following season. The Hoyas came from behind to win by two.  After the game, Georgetown coach John Thompson declared “Manley Field House is officially closed.”  This is the game credited with starting the rivalry.

March 10, 1984
Georgetown 82 – Syracuse 71 (OT)

Jim Boehiem did not hide his anger at the post-game press conference, after losing the Big East Championship to Georgetown. Boehiem blamed the referees for blowing a call when Georgetown’s Michael Graham apparently pushed and punched Syracuse’s Andre Hawkins. Boeheim said “the best team did not win.”

January 28, 1985
Syracuse 65 – Georgetown 63

The crowd, totaling more than 32,229 (at that time, the third-largest ever in the Dome), was described as being in a frenzy this night.  At one point, fans began throwing oranges onto the court, interrupting the game. Pearl Washington’s jump shot with eight seconds left on the clock gave Syracuse the win.

March 3, 1990
Syracuse 89 – Georgetown 87 (OT)

More than 33,000 people packed themselves into the Dome to see Syracuse take the Big East regular season title.  Georgetown coach John Thompson was ejected from the game after receiving three technical fouls.

Syracuse 56 – Georgetown 54

Syracuse won the Big East championship thanks to a jump shot by Dave Johnson with five seconds left on the clock.

February 8, 1997
Syracuse 77 – Georgetown 74

Donovan McNabb, best known as a quarterback for SU, scored ten points to help SU top the Hoyas. McNabb played for 19 minutes in the Dome, the most game time he had in his two seasons as a walk-on.

February 21, 2004
Syracuse 57 – Georgetown 54

Gerry McNamara hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give Syracuse a win on the road. Georgetown had tied the game with 8.3 seconds left in the game, but a pass from Hakim Warrick gave McNamara just enough time to take the shot.
