Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - The Buffalo Sabres on Sunday brought back defenseman Henrik Tallinder, acquiring him from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for forward prospect Riley Boychuk.
"We are excited to have Henrik back in the mix on our blue line," said Sabres general manager Darcy Regier. "His experience will be invaluable not only in adding more stability to our back end, but also in the development of some of our younger defensemen."
Tallinder, Buffalo's second-round pick in the 1997 draft, spent the last three seasons with the Devils, turning in one goal and three assists in just 25 regular-season games last year.
The 34-year-old native of Sweden spent his first eight NHL campaigns in Buffalo, and has compiled 26 goals and 108 assists in 614 appearances since 2002.
