MANLIUS, NY (WSYR-TV) - The public had the chance to take a closer look at the moon on Saturday night at Fayetteville-Manlius High School’s observatory.

It joined observatories all over the world in celebrating the 2012
 International Observe the Moon Night.

"I think it definitely calls attention to the scale of things because we often forget where we are and our place in the universe.  We're one planet and we have this amazing thing orbiting us all the time and we never really think about it. And it's nice that we can do it in honor of Neil Armstrong as well,” said F-M student Amy Butcher.
