C-NS student named Female Athlete of the Year by USA Basketball

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Cicero-North Syracuse High School senior star Breanna Stewart is no stranger to high praise. She’s been considered the top high school recruit in the country for going on two years now. But the senior’s latest honor goes well beyond the scholastic scene.

Stewart has been named the Female Athlete of the Year by USA Basketball. This award isn’t just for high school players; all players in the system are involved, including college and pro-players.

Breanna helped lead the Americans to the gold medal at the under 19 World Championships in Chile, leading the team in points, rebounds and blocks.

Stewart will now be nominated for the Olympic Committee’s Sportswoman of the Year honor.
