For the first time in program history, the combined ice hockey team from Christian Brothers Academy and Jamesville-DeWitt are state champions.
The Brothers topped John Jay-Cross River 4-2 Sunday afternoon, in the Division II title game at the Utica Auditorium.
Braeden Doust scored twice in the third period -- first to tie things at 2, then to put CBA/J-D ahead for good.
Drew Brooks would later add an empty-netter, capping off a thrilling run to the championship. Ryan Durkin had the other goal for the Brothers, while goaltender Tim Decker stopped 23 shots.
