Buffalo (WSYR-TV) – Central Square High School graduate Tom Murphy is now a member of the Colorado Rockies organization.
Murphy – who attended the University at Buffalo - was selected in the third round of the Major League Baseball draft. He was drafted 105th overall.
The junior catcher set numerous records in the Bulls program. Murphy was drafted higher than any player in the history of UB’s program. The Bulls have had three players drafted.
Murphy will leave Buffalo as its career leader in slugging percentage (.588). In the program's career record lists, he ranks second in home runs, third in doubles, fourth in total bases, and fifth in runs batted in.
