Crunch fall 5-2, Calder Cup dreams dashed
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Syracuse Crunch came up short Tuesday night in game six of the Calder Cup finals, falling 5-2 against the Grand Rapids Griffins.
The loss crowned the Griffins the 2013 AHL Calder Cup champions, winning the series 4-2.
The Crunch received goals from Richard Panik and Andrej Sustr in the losing effort.
Richard Panik had five straight games with a goal.
The Griffins added two empty-net goals in the final minute to seal the game.
After falling behind 3-0 in the series, the Crunch won two straight to force the series back to Syracuse.
This was the first appearance for the Crunch in the Calder Cup, making this the most successful season in team history.
