Pro lacrosse returning for CNY appearance
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Central New York has not been home to professional indoor lacrosse in 13 years.
But the Syracuse Stingers are set to play an exhibition game later this month in hopes of stirring up enough excitement for a winter season in 2014.
Organizers say Central New York produces excellent young lacrosse players who end up in high-level programs such as Syracuse University and other schools.
They believe the region is an ideal place to celebrate the game.
“We’re here to just entertain the community and show everybody what lacrosse is all about and honor the traditions of the game and bring a quality product to the area,” said Neal Powless.
The exhibition game will be played Thursday, Feb. 21.
The Stingers will play the New York Lacrosse All Stars at 7 p.m. at the War Memorial Arena.
