SUNY Oswego hockey team falls in National Championship
LAKE PLACID, NY (WSYR-TV) - The SUNY Oswego hockey team competed in the NCAA DIII National Championship game Saturday night.
The Lakers were looking for their first NCAA crown since 2007.
Oswego's competition Saturday was the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Oswego jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period but then gave up four straight goals.
UW-Eau Claire won the game 5-3. Oswego finished the season with a 25-5 record.
The senior class is leaving the team with quite the resume.
They racked up 98 wins while skating with the Lakers. They also won two SUNYAC Championships and played in four Frozen Fours.
The Lakers also lost in the title game last year.
