Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse’s soccer team the Silver Knights were forced to scrap Thursday’s season opener, due to unsafe field conditions.
Coach Tommy Tanner says because it was so warm out there was condensation in the arena that settled on the turf, making for slippery field conditions.
The Silver Knights have been practicing and finalizing their roster for the new campaign after finishing short of the playoffs in their inaugural season.
The team’s coaching staff says they play a fan-friendly style of the game and they’re hoping to expand their fan base this year.
“We play a really attractive style of soccer. We're here to entertain and, hopefully, a couple of those losses we had at the end of last year, will be victories this year,” said head coach Tommy Tanner.
The game has been rescheduled for Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the CNY Family Sports Complex.
