Cool air has taken up residence here in CNY. For the meantime, we’re only seeing clouds in our skies but a jet stream disturbance near Chicago this evening, will approach Thursday, bringing an increase in our chances for rain and wet snow. Until midday Thursday, things will stay dry.
When the rain and wet snow arrives Thursday afternoon, the snow should be confined to the higher elevations to the south and southeast of Syracuse. It’ll be a wet snow, with accumulations across the hilltops generally a coating to an inch. In lower elevations, temperatures will be right on the edge for rain vs. snow, so no snow accumulation is expected. Lingering snow showers will come to an end by midday Friday with skies beginning to clear, with the arrival of dry air for the weekend.
As we go through the weekend, the weather will remain dry and we’ll see a big moderation in temperature. We could be seeing 60s for highs by early next week!
