We’ve got some good news weather-wise as we head into the holiday weekend. The slow moving storm system that has impacted us all week is finally weakening and, more importantly, it is on the move. As it departs a few lingering showers will be around central New York through sunset, then most of the showers will fade away. The one exception will be in areas northeast of Syracuse across the Adirondacks where the rain will stick around through tonight.
We still have a few showers in the forecast for Saturday morning, but they should be scattered and fairly light. The best chance for any rain on Saturday will once again be across the Adirondacks. It still looks like the afternoon hours around Syracuse will be dry with some sun, but it will be windy.
The dry weather will last into Saturday evening which is good news for fireworks displays around the area. Just take along the jacket because temperatures will be kind of cool. Temperatures on Saturday will be in the low 70s so still below where they should be this time of year, factor in a breezy northwesterly wind and it will feel more like the 60s.
Sunday still looks like the driest day with sun and clouds. We have left the chance of a shower in the forecast, but it now looks like if any rain develops it will be late in the day. Temperatures will be a little warmer in the mid 70s and the winds a little lighter. If you have plans to head out on the area lakes the next few days Sunday will probably be your best bet.
